Frequently asked questions

Where is Sacramento Mountain Village located?

The Village is not a place. It is an organization of people who want to give themselves the best possible quality of life as they age. Members and volunteers help one another with tasks that may get increasingly difficult as people age. Without such help, some members would not be able to live in their own homes any longer. The organization also sponsors social gatherings for members.

What are annual membership fees used for?

Membership fees are used to pay for insurance that the Board of Directors is required to maintain. Fees also support social gatherings. These vary based on members' interests. The cost of renting the Village Center at 1092 Mechem also comes from membership fees.

What kind of services does Sacramento Mountain Village provide?

We are not caregivers. Members and volunteers try to help one another only with fairly simple tasks and to provide pleasant social interaction. Often, it is the inability to do simple tasks that necessitates people moving from their homes. Such tasks include providing transportation, walking dogs, doing light household tasks, locating reputable contractors, grocery shopping, balancing checkbooks, filing simple tax returns, providing gentle exercise classes and robust intellectual debates.

Does Sacramento Mountain Village provide opportunities for social interaction?

Yes. We recognize that, as we age, it is harder to keep up the social contacts that make life more pleasant. Besides monthly breakfast meetings and weekly educational teas, we also can visit less mobile members and call one another on a regular basis to help peace of mind. Occasional trips are made based on members' interests and available resources.
